Share Your Story
This shelf isn’t just ours. It’s yours too.
The Idea Shelf started as a collection of things worth saving — but the best ideas rarely come from one place. They come from real people, in real homes, on real trips, trying real things.
If you’ve got something worth sharing — a trip you took, a room you transformed, a recipe you perfected, a small-space trick that actually worked — we want to hear about it.
Here’s how it works
- Send us your story. Photos, a rough write-up, even just a voice note with your thoughts — we can help shape it into something publish-ready.
- We read everything ourselves. No automated rejections. A real person reviews every submission.
- If it’s a fit, it goes up under your name. Your story, your byline, your credit — permanently.
- If people love it, we notice. Popular contributions get featured on our homepage, and regular contributors get invited into our contributor spotlight — with small thank-you gifts along the way as the shelf grows.
What we’re looking for
- First-hand experience — you did the thing, you know the details others don’t
- Original photos (yours, not stock or downloaded)
- Honesty over polish — a real, slightly imperfect story beats a generic listicle every time
What we’re not looking for
- Content copied or lightly reworded from somewhere else
- Generic advice that could apply to anyone, anywhere
- Anything you didn’t actually experience yourself
We read every submission with this in mind — not to police wording, but to make sure the shelf stays full of things that are actually true.
